The Last Goodbye in Graedjoan Giantish

Here is a translation of "The Last Goodbye," from The Lord of the Rings, into Graedjoan Giantish. If you have not heard the song, I highly recommend the Billy Boyd version or the Clamavi de Profundis rendition.

English:

I saw the light fade from the sky
On the wind I heard a sigh
As the snowflakes cover
My fallen brothers
I will say this last goodbye

Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away

Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea

Under cloud, beneath the stars
Over snow and winter's morn
I turn at last to paths that lead home

And though where the road then takes me,
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell

Many places I have been
Many sorrows I have seen
But I don't regret
Nor will I forget
All who took that road with me

Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away

Over hill, and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea

To these memories I will hold
With your blessing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home

And though where the road then takes me,
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell

I bid you all a very fond farewell

Pippin's Song Translated into Graedjoan Giantish

Here is Pippin's Song from "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," translated into Graedjoan Giantish. Enjoy!

English

Home is behind, the world ahead

And there are many paths to tread

Through shadow, to the edge of night

Until the stars are all alight

Mist and shadow

Cloud and shade

All shall fade

All shall fade

*The word “oirre” comes from the word for valley, “rexan” and the word for low, being “ozi,” which together make the word “ozirexan,” or Down Valley. This eventually morphed into the word “oirre,” meaning behind.

**The word “ubre” comes from the word for valley, "rexan" and the word for high, being "umb," which together make for word "umbrexan," or Up Valley. This eventually morphed into the word "ubre," meaning ahead.

***An interesting tidbit about the word “zunremax.” It is comprised of three separate morphemes. There is the morpheme “zun” meaning sun, “rem” meaning moon, and “-ax” which is a verbalizer. “zun” and “rem” together make a compound noun meaning dusk, twilight, or dawn. The reason then that “zunremax” means to fade is that it as at dusk/twilight/dawn that the day is fading into the night, or that the night is fading into the day.

The Opening Monologue from The Fellowship of the Ring in Graedjoan Giantish

Here is a translation of the opening monologue from The Fellowship of the Ring. Irregular words have been bolded.

English

It began with the forging of the Great Rings.

Three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings.

Seven to the Dwarf-Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls.

And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power.

For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern each race.

But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made.

Deep in the land of Mordor, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged a master ring in secret, and into this ring he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life.

One ring to rule them all.
